LAKESIDE GARDEN

This garden is in a remarkable location in Co. Galway which has informed the design of this landscape and especially the planting choices.

The remit was to reduce the amount of lawn, make the lakeside more user friendly, consider a pontoon, not to obstruct the stunning views from the home and introduce apple trees with an emphasis on Irish Heritage varieties, among many other points.

The new design is based on a naturalistic style of planting that uses perennial and ornamental grasses that are planted in drifts as well as singly, With slight variations in style depending on the planting zone (the design has 4 planting zones in total). This garden will evolve overtime and perennials will merge with each other. Other plants can be added, existing ones divided and changed- each garden takes on a life of its own.
